Serena Williams continued her superb form when she reached the final of Sony Ericsson Open after beating teen prodigy, Israel’s Shahar Peer 7-6 (4), 6-1. The other player to book her place in the final is the new world number 1, Justin Henin who beat Anna Chakvetadze 6-2, 6-3.
Henin and Williams have not played against each other since 2003 Wimbledon semi-finals and both players will be looking forward to settle their scores with each other. Williams have the advantage of lead over Henin on five of their previous 8 matches.
But Serena Williams had something good to say about her Belgian opponent:
Justine has been playing some of the best tennis on the tour. She’s doing awesome. This will be a real test of my game.

Justin said:
We had a couple of good fights in the past. When she’s healthy and really focused, she’s a great champion. She has nothing to prove to anyone. She did it in the past. It’s great the level she’s back to.
19 year old Peer who was playing in her first ever Tier I semifinal, was on the verge of scoring an upset victory over 2007 Australian Champion Serena Williams when she was just two points away from creating a sensation. But, Williams consistent service rescued her and she won twelve games successively to take a 4-1 lead in the first set tie-break.
Justin Henin confirmed her detestation for the stormy weather conditions which might be the cause of her poor performance in March.
Anna Chakvetadze who played sheepishly throughout the match gave away the 1st set in just 33 minutes and also lost the second one while having the lead of 40-0 and from there on she lost 2 successive points to Henin.
