As expected, McLaren dominated the US grand prix with rookie driver Lewis Hamilton winning the race and world champion Fernando Alonso attaining the second position.
Such is the caliber of Hamilton’s driving that the Brit has finished on the podium in all the races so far this season. Fernando Alonso despite making an all-out effort to topple Hamilton, went in vein as Hamilton drove effortlessly without any error.
The pivotal factor here was that both Alonso and Hamilton have already finished 1-2 three times this season, with Alonso grabbing the first position in Malaysia and Monaco.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari finished third while his team mate Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth. Though, Ferrari wasn’t fast enough but they will settle with the podium finish. Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber performed admirably in the qualifying session but was unable to complete the race.
The Renault rookie, Heikki Kovalainen, was the surprise package of the US grand prix as he finished fifth, followed by Jarno Trulli of Toyota and Red Bull’s Mark Webber. Ralf Schumacher wretched season continued, he once again was unable to finish the race. Sebastian Vettel, a 19-year-old rookie filled the boot of Kubica brilliantly by securing points for BMW. It is worth remembering that Kubica missed the Canadian grand prix after a horrific accident.
