With Wimbledon just around the corner, every player is working hard to prepare for the ultimate battle in the world of tennis. Andy Roddick is one such player who always enjoys the fast and bouncy grass courts at Wimbledon.
Once again demonstrating how good he is on grass court, Roddick defeated France’s Nicolas Mahut 4-6, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (2) to clinch the Queen’s title - his fourth at the championship joining the likes of Lleyton Hewitt, Boris Becker and John McEnroe as four-time winners of this event. This tournament is widely been regarded as the practice tournament for Wimbledon and this win can boost the confidence of Roddick, after all he has to play against the likes of Nadal and Federer in coming days.
Roddick started slowly and lost the first set to the impressive Frenchman who had already defeated Rafael Nadal in the third round of this tournament. But Roddick not only fought back in the second set but such was his grit and determination that he saved the match point as well. Third set was all about holding the nerve and Roddick used his experience of dealing with crunch situations to the maximum while Mahut looked out of sorts when pressure came upon him.
