Andy Murray is one player who has the talent to dethrone Roger Federer from his top spot. On his day, Murray can beat anyone in the world but lacks in terms of consistency.
His inconsistent form was once again visible when he was defeated by Rafael Nadal in straight sets 7-6 6-4 in the third round match of Madrid Masters.
Murray played well through out the match but unable to win points at crucial moment of the match. In my opinion, that is where Murray lost the match because you can’t panic against the likes of Nadal at crucial juncture of the match.
According to Murray,
I had chances and I didn’t take them. I played pretty well. It was a long match with a lot of tough points. It could have gone either way. I’m disappointed to lose but it was a good match, I learned from it. I’m happy that I’m back playing at this level and giving the world number two a great match
To his credit, Nadal playing in his home turf played well but there is no doubt in my mind that he has to raise his game further if he wants to win this tournament.
