American Julia Mancuso has made history after she won the Alpine World Cup for the first time. She bagged the title in the women’s downhill race on Tuesday in Val D`Isere, France.

Earlier Mancuso became the US giant slalom champion at the age of 16. Now, at 22 she clocked one minute, 38.93 seconds beating Renate Goetschl who came second, by just a difference of 0.43 seconds.

Last year’s winner Lindsay Kildow clocked 1:39.47 and came third. The race delayed 15 minutes after Italian Nadia Fanchini crashed badly during her run. Fanchini crashed into the safety net and taken down the hill on a stretcher having pains in her knee and head.

According to the Italian Ski Federation’s statement,

Nadia has broken her wrist from two places and lost consciousness for a short time period. She had been taken to the Mouthiers Hospital and had a scan, which showed no more problems.

Mancuso had undergone a surgery for a long-term hip problem during the off-season. She said:

I’m just coming back from that and it’s been tough but I knew I had a pretty good run, it felt smooth. It just seemed like everything lined up perfectly for me. I’m just starting to get the good feelings back all the time.

She is too young when she has won the World Cup and if she keeps up the pace, sky is the limit for her.
