Peyton Manning led the Indianapolis Colts to a comprehensive Super Bowl victory over the Chicago Bears - and Coach Tony Dungy became the first black head coach to win the Super Bowl in 41 years of history.
Rumors ragged of Dungy stepping down as the Colts boss, though could be only a layman’s thought - one with such record wouldn’t quit so quick neither would Manning and Co. wanna part.
If there was the slightest of doubt to it, Tony Dungy has confirmed - he’ll be back to coach the Super Bowl champs for another season. With the surety of Dungy’s return, the Colts can get down hard for the next season’s title defense.
Dungy quoted,
Obviously, you want to come back. You want to defend the title. We’ve got such a great group of guys, that that’s eventually what draws you back every year. I wouldn’t say it was an easy decision, but it was the right one, and it didn’t take overly long to make.
Dwight Freeney will be on the franchise tag for another season - with Dungy in the hunt for the cream wants to kick off the quest right here with the annual job interview for potential NFL players or the annual Scouting Combine that begins Thursday in the Indianapolis Colts’ home stadium.
