World number 2 Rafael Nadal retained his French open crown when he overcame Roger Federer in the men’s single final.



The Spaniard took three hours to defeat the Swiss number one 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 in the excited final match played at Roland Garros on Sunday.

With this victory, Nadal extended his French open record to 14-0 and his winning feat on clay to 60 matches.



The top seeded Roger Federer is offset for his shocking defeat in the final match as it has spilled the Swiss icon’s effort to become first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam titles at once.
