
Ankiel’s and Glaus’s career frequently interrupted by injuries, but the latest on goings suggest that the duo is yet again entwined in a snag. MLB sets off to investigate their alleged involvement of receiving multiple shipments of performance enhancing drugs.
Ankiel, whose comeback is one of the great stories of this season, hit nine homers since rejoining the St. Louis Cardinals last month. He hit two homers and drove in seven runs in the recent past as the Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-4, in a rain-shortened game.
Glaus, a four-time, all star with the Toronto Blue Jays hit .263 with 20 home runs and 62 RBI in 111 games this season, his second with Toronto after one with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Also cited the Most Valuable Player in the 2002 World Series for the Anaheim Angels.
Earlier the Cincinnati Reds catcher Ryan Jorgenson was suspended for 50 games, the third player penalized this year under Major League Baseball’s drug program.
