World number one Amelie Mauresmo escaped scare in the second set to outclass fourth seeded Maria Sharapova 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to reach her maiden Wimbledon final.



France women Amelie tried to build pressure on Sharapova from the very beginning of the semifinal clash on Centre Court. She won the first set comfortably. However, the 2004 champion Sharapova fought back brilliantly in the second set. The third set was at its excitement. However, Mauresmo was unfazed by the Sharapova’s aggressive approached. She smoothly handled the decider set to script history on Centre Court.



She will now take on Henin-Hardenne of Belgium in the final. Henin defeated her fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters 6-4, 7-6 in the semifinals.
