Marion Jones is to go through a blood sample test for the second time. Jones’s initial sample tested positive for the banned blood-boosting drug erythropoietin (EPO) at the U.S. championships in Indianapolis in June. If the second sample is also positive, the 30-year-old will face a two-year ban from the athletics, although she can appeal to an arbitration hearing.
The second test is needs to be conducted at the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory in Los Angeles. The protocol is same lab (as the first test), but different technicians. Jones has repeatedly denied taking performance-enhancing substances and has never previously failed a doping test. It is only on her requested that this second Blood sample test is to be conducted.
