Hamilton drove like a champion throughout
and never looked like being beaten though Raikonnen did run him close on a few occasions. Hamilton’s McLaren clearly looked more suited to the track than the Ferrari and Raikonnen must be applauded for driving a fiercely competitive race. However, Raikonnen’s team mate Felipe Massa wasn’t so good and finished a disappointing 14th which resulted in him dropping to 4th place overall.

Earlier in the day, Alonso had to concede his pole position to Hamilton after having been found guilty of obstructing Hamilton when he was starting his final qualifying lap. He was penalized 5 places but fought back to drive a good race and finished 4th.
However, McLaren were denied points in the Constructor’s Championship due to the Alonso incident and thus helped Ferrari to close in on them cutting their lead down to just 19 points. Hamilton now leads the Driver’s Championship with 80 points with Alonso on 73 and Raikonnen on 60 with 6 races remaining.
