The olympic and world 100 meter champion Justin Gatlin is reeling under imence pressure these days. He is going through what could be said as one of the worst nightmare’s in any sportsman’s life.
He was tested positive for a banned substance testosterone in his system after an April race. He retained his right, as all spots persons do, to appeal the case to arbitrators in hopes of a reduced sentence. This is not for the first time a that Gatlin has been tested positive, the first positive test, five years ago, was an honest mistake, the result of his taking medicine to treat attention-deficit disorder, he said.
Lately Gatlin and USADA have reached an agreement to decrease his penalty from a lifetime ban to a maximum of eight years in exchange for Gatlin’s help in other doping investigations, most famous one involving his coach, Trevor Graham.
Nike Gatlin’s sponsor has terminated its contract with Graham and suspended its contract with Gatlin until further notice. Gatlin will not receive any payment while the contract remains suspended.
Gatlin remains convinced all this will blow over. He believe his name will be clear and he will be allowed to compete once again.
