Jelena Jankovic is one of the brightest talents around in the WTA circuit at the moment. Not only she is physically fit but also her mental concentration is comparable to world number one Justine Henin.

Jankovic continuing her flawless tennis defeated Maria Sharapova in a tight three setter 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to win grass court DFS Classic. Interestingly, it’s the fourth title of the year for Jankovic and if she continues to maintain her form she can be a real contender for the Wimbledon.

Sharapova won the first set 6-4 but after that Jankovic dominated Sharapova especially in the ground strokes. In the second set, Sharapova struggled with her first serve, Jankovic taking advantage of the situation won the second set 6-3. Third set was pretty tight but ultimately Jankovic was just too good for Sharapova.

This victory means that Jankovic will enter the Wimbledon with confidence this year while Sharapova despite not being able to win the tournament must be satisfied with her run through to the finals. Sharapova had disappointing French open but she always enjoys the atmosphere of Wimbledon.
