Renowned to be the host of major racing events, now Indianapolis Motor Speedway is all set to host thrilling motorcycle racing, MotoGP world championship in 2008, for the first time in a decade.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the second-oldest surviving automobile racing track in the world (first being the Milwaukee Mile) and will celebrate its centenary in 2009. The speedway has a huge capacity of permanent seating for more than 257,000 people and infield seating can accommodate nearly 400,000 spectators at a time and motorcycles were the first to race at the speedway in 1909.

Motorcycle racing will return to the famous Brickyard track with the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix that will be held on Sept. 14, 2008. Apart from this, Indianapolis speedway will also host the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

The US will be the host of two rounds of the 2008 championships. The US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca in California will follow the Indianapolis race of September 14.

The MotoGP circuit will have a new 16-turn 4.1km road course in which riders will race in an anti-clockwise direction.
