sndeepsingh24821-year-old, World Cup-bound hockey drag flicker Sandeep Singh, who injured his right hip when the gun of an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Railway Protection Force went off accidentally in the Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi Express near Kurukshetra, is recouping from his injuries.

The World Cup is scheduled to be played from the 6th to 17th of September and the Indian hockey team is sure to miss the expertise of this maestro. The Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said the state government will bear the entire expenses of the player’s treatment.

The question that arises here is that has the Indian hockey federation taken any initiative to come forward and help this young star of Indian hockey? Has the media covered this young stars story properly? No neither of them has done what is needed of them.

Why has this happened? Why is our national game Hockey loosing its relevance? With the world cup around the corner there is no excitement amongst the Indians. However, the world cup for cricket is 8 odd months away but it’s the most talked about thing in India. Why is cricket dominating over our national game? Has cricket become a religion in India and should we change our national game to cricket?
