Fifth seeded Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium has successfully defended her French open title for her straight victory over Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final match. With her 6-4, 6-4 win, Justine Henin-Hardenne has bagged the French open title three times in history.
The 24-year old had won French open in 2003 and 2005. This is her fifth career grand slam and second grand slam of the season after wining the Australian Open in January.
She has now joined ‘Swiss Miss’ Martina Hingis and Venus Williams of US with five Grand Slam titles to her name. She is the first woman since German Steffi Graf in 1996 to win consecutive Roland Garros titles.
