Miami Heat came out of the blue last season to win the NBA title, it was unbelievable for me - this season their struggle to defend the title or just remain in contention for the playoffs gives weight to my belief.

Heat are struggling on the brink of relegation - they lingering on the 8th and 9th spot in the Eastern Conference, whereas to qualify for the postseason they need to remain in the top eight. The team was struggling with injury crises - All- Stars Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade were out injured however, Shaq’s return and his impressive play will to some extent lift the momentum of the squad.

O’Neal helped Miami Heat build a 22-point advantage against the Detroit Pistons and when the defending champions looked blowing off the lead Shaq delivered a dunk in the dying seconds, to guide his team home.

Dwyane Wade had always been a priority for Miami - he drove them to the zenith last season but because of his layout (due to dislocated shoulder), Shaquille O’Neal had to take on the lead, and he didn’t thwart either, scoring 31 points with 15 rebounds, while Antonie Walker added 22 for Miami’s cause.

With the win Heat have extended their home winning streak to a season high eight-games - but their poor record for the season can in no way be subsided with this, they sure have a win - but mind it is low scoring and narrow. To overpower Detroit should have been as difficult, they came into the game averaging 12.3 turnovers, lowest in the league - but still Miami Heat made a heavy weather of the task.

Mind it guys it’s just a superficial achievement, they have a long way to go before they can relive the last season.
