The intensity with which the professionals are drilled into competitions these days, it’s rather bound to take its toll on them - Its just been a week since the Australian Open concluded and Maria Sharovpa, the runners up in that event is already on the brink of yet another clash for the title.

Maria Sharapova competing in the Pan Pacific Open had made it to the semifinals here - however, post one set into the game had to rule herself out owing to pain in her left hamstring.
The Russian ace lost the first set 6-1 but then went on to win a game in the second before finally quitting - though reluctant to blame her schedule for the injury, she quoted,
“I have a simple and easy schedule compared to the other girls,” she said. “There’s no doubt it’s difficult when you come straight from a Grand Slam. The surface here is quite different and the change in court might have something to do with it.”
The World No. 1 who lost to Serena William at the OZ Open - leaves an opportunity for her opponent Ana Ivanovic of Serbia to march into the finals where she will meet either Martina Hingis or Elena Dementieva.
