The Atlanta Hawks were expecting to be at full strength for the new season, but they confront another blow to their rebuilding effort. Just when Speedy Claxton was making a comeback, the Hawks loose Marvin Williams, who will be out of action for at least eight-weeks due to a broken bone in his left hand.

Williams, the No. 2 overall pick in the last seasons NBA draft, Picked ahead of Andrew Bogut, averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds, he turned into an asset for the team, with his scoring average increasing over the summer, that earned him the MVP award in the Rocky Mountain Review.

Williams was to start at power forward, but now the Hawks will have to look for other alternatives, if the team has to make it to the Playoffs, something they have not been able to do since ‘99, this being the second-longest drought in NBA, and with the blow to their expectations just ahead of the season opener, the Hawks look no where to make it this season too.
