Pullela Gopichand is the new coach of Indian badminton team. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) gave him official appointment this week.
The former All-England Champion Gopinchand will take charge from Vimal Kumar. BAI president B.K Verma said that Vimal Kumar is no longer available owing to his other commitments. Andhra born Gopichand will remain coach of the national team till 2010 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Delhi.
Gopichand, who got the Padma Shir award last year said,
It’s a great honor for me and it’s a big responsibility.He affirmed his priority would be on achieving success at the international arena.
