Top seeded Roger Federer took revenge on Mario Ancic in the quarterfinals match by defeating the Croatian 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4 at Wimbledon.
Ninth seeded Ancic defeated Federer on the same court four years ago. With this victory, Federer advanced into ninth consecutive Grand-slam semifinals. He will meet Swede Jonas Bjorkman.
Bjorkman took four hours and two minutes to sideline Radek Stepanek 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 of Republic. Jonas Bjorkman, 34 was the oldest player to appear this year’s Wimbledon semifinals .
The three-time defending champion Federer stated,
It was difficult, knowing he was the last guy to beat me here. I remember I was very sad after that match.
