China won the first two golds in the World Aquatics Championships, dominating the diving event - Jia Tong and Chen Ruolin with 37.32 points bagged the 10-meter women’s synchronized platform title, with Jia equaling her effort in Montreal.

In the men’s event too, the Chinese were outrightly dominant - with Qin Kai and Wang Feng finished 39.84 to win the gold in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition, Wang finished for his second consecutive synchronized springboard medallion previously managing the feat in Montreal with He Chong.

The Chinese pair of Kai and Wang were the favorites for the event since their autocratic performance in the preliminary rounds - but faced some gritty effort form the Russian competitors only to edge out post two unpredicted mistakes from the Russians in the fourth round.
Dispite the top finishes from the Chinese divers it was Russia that dominated the synchronized swimming to keep atop the medals table.
