Fears that pivotal All Blacks Daniel Carter will miss the World Cup quarter-final against France are dissipating fast.

A major tear in left calf muscle also left the playmaker stranded for the final group clash. The defensively strong Carter, in rare occasions when the All Black pack has been on the back foot, has mostly stood strong on the tackle.

Expecting his prompt recovery coach Graham Henry said,

Daniel trained for 50 per cent of the time with the team this morning and looked fine to me. But he is not 100 per cent fit at the moment. We hope Dan will be able to train fully with us on Thursday and Friday. We are building him up gradually so he is ready for Saturday.

As the final squad was to be announced today, latest reports suggest that Carter has been incorporated to the team as three World Cup surprises have sprung up.

Robinson will start against France with only 55 minutes of Rugby World Cup play behind him, while fullback Muliaina has been moved to center.

Meanwhile, in-form wing Doug Howlett, capturing All Blacks test try-scoring record while in France, has missed out on the 22 behind Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu.
