Terms have been concurred with British Cycling’s present Performance Director, Dave Brailsford for a new long-term contract which keeps him at the helm for the role until after the 2012 London Olympics.
Appointed for the role back in 2002 that has been truly vindicated by the fact that Dave has been instrumental in unparalleled levels of success enjoyed in recent years for British track riders, at both Olympic and World Championship levels.
Moreover, efforts to set up a British professional team to race the Tour de France took a further step as British Cycling, the national governing body confirmed its involvement and declared that the formation would be within the remit of Dave.
Considering it as an exciting opportunity Dave said,
It is a natural and eagerly awaited progression of our Olympic Programmes to create a top flight professional Road team of British riders. The opportunity to running a team based on the same performance principles as we currently employ is very exciting and one which I would like to make a reality. GB cycling fans are fantastic and I am sure that they would really get behind a British team competing in the major tours.
Well, from here on Dave can now expect to achieve an overall Olympic focused objective in making a whole lot good to the British Cycling and scaling new heights.
