Scheduled for twelve, the bout for the IBA middleweight title ended in just nine. The bout was stopped because of blood flowing out of the challengers head owing to an accidental head clash.

The Irish middleweight champion John Duddy scored a technical decision over American Anthony Bonsante to retain the IBA middleweight title and capture the vacant WBC continental Americas crown.
Following the unintended head collision, Bonsante had complained of blurred vision, to which his corner responded in the ninth round when the blood stooped oozing out of the wound sustained close to the right eye and the New York Athletics commission’s rulling called the ref. to decide the fight.
To which the referees responded with a unanimous decision in Duddy’s favor handing the Irishmen the 19 successive win - however, I feel the decision to be harsh and unfortunate on the American and think he definitely deserves another shot at the title.
