
Marcos Baghdatis becomes the first Cypriot to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. The Australian Open runners-up achieved it by defeating Andy Murray of England.
Earlier Murray shocked third seeded Andy Roddick in the third round match. The victory led the English fans to expect much from Murray. However, Murray lost the grips in the fourth round match against the Cypriot.
Murray struggled in the court through out the match. His serves were quite discouraging. He committed frequent errors and lose chances. Baghdatis taking full opportunity of the situation removed the British 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in the fourth round match. The defeat virtually brought an end England’s singles run in the Wimbledon.
