
Australian Open runners-up Marcos Baghdatis stunned the former champion Lleyton Hewitt in the quarterfinals match at Wimbledon. The Cypriot was under pressure in the second set when he was trailing 0-3. However, the promising Baghdatis fought back heavily to remove the Australian 6-1 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.
The 18th seeded Baghdatis started up with a winning fashion. He dominated the court in 26 minutes. Hewitt resisted the march of Cypriot in the second set. He led the game 3-0 but failed to maintaine the approach.
The former junior world number one will take on the winner of quarterfinals match between Nadal and Nieminen.
