pankajIt was a day of honoring the aggressive athletes who have proven their abilities against some of the best in the world and have been acknowdged across the world. It was yet another awards ceremony for most of us but for some of the likes of Pankaj Advani and Rahelu, it was a moment in their lives that they will always remember.





The President of the nation Dr. APJ Kalam stepped up to honor the best of Indian sport for the year 2005. The recipients of the awards came up to him to claim 27 trophies in different categories, the main attraction of the evening was the wheelchair bound Rajinder Singh Rahelu who manages to bench press 170 kg though he does not have legs for leverage, though the four-time Commonweatlh Games gold medalist Gagan Narang should not be left out.





As the critics acclaim this was one of the few award ceremonies, which has concluded without any controversies. Since the Maulana Abul Kalam cup which was the first to be incepted in 1957, given to the best university in sports in India.
