Formidable New Zealand blanked Scotland 40-0, while mighty Australia thrashed a hapless Fiji 55-12 to storm in the quarterfinals of the Rugby World Cup where they join South Africa.
The Kiwi All Blacks were in scintillating form against Scotland as they scored six tries to move to the next stage of the tournament.
The Black Caps are gunning for a title after a long gap of 20 years and captain Richie McCaw oozed confidence of doing well.
He said,
Hopefully we have what it takes. We’ve got a tough few games ahead of us.
New Zealand made it a lop-sided match, leading 20-0 at half time and the second session saw no let up in the Kiwi attack as Scotland scurried for covers.
In the other match of the day, Matt Giteau starred with 27 points as Australia got the better of Fiji to top Group B.
This was Giteau’s 50th Test and the Aussie inside-center came up with a stupendous display that included two tries and three kicked penalties besides four conversions to emerge as the top scorer for the side.
