Reigning two-times F1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso seems baffled by his conflict with the British rookie and co-driver Lewis Hamiliton.
The duo’s relationship grew bitter last weekend as Hamilton broke down at the Hungarian Grand Prix and was penalised for his part in trying to prevent the Briton from starting in pole.

Speculation’s are that Alonso is contemplating in quitting McLaren, before the seasons end. If Alonso leaves, doors are wide open for him to head for two likely destinations for the next season. His first choice would be the Renault, with whom he won his two world titles and the other being the BMW, who are yet to contract German Nick Heidfeld for 2008 season. It also appears that McLaren will allow Alonso to leave the team at the end of the season, two years prior to the expiry of the contract.

McLaren chief Ron Dennis said:

There is an inevitability that these things are rumoured and discussed. We have two drivers who are contracted for several years into the future. We will respect our part of the bargain - we hope that the drivers respect theirs, because that’s what a contract is about. We will continue to function as a grand prix team with specific values and if anybody does not want to be part of those values ultimately they will have a choice. But we will not deviate away from our values.

Debuting with McLaren in 2007, Alonso is reported to earn nearly $ 39 million for the current year.
