Cruising amidst rain chaos and a slippery track, Fernando Alonso the Spanish Formula One racing driver and reigning two-times world champion, reared his wagon wheels to a sprint finish after winning Sunday’s European Grand Prix.

Alonso is now placed just two points off the lead in the F1 driver’s championship after the recent success.

His nearest contender the English rookie, Hamilton is just 68 points behind 70. Before coming to the Grand Prix Hamilton was 12 points ahead but afterwards forced in the tenth place following crash at Saturday’s qualifier and getting medical clearance to drive on.

The rainy showers did put some breaks, posing to ruin the spectacle but could not snatch victory from the champion.

On the course, Alonso accelerated and overtook Felipe Massa of Ferrari who was eight seconds behind in second place, while Mark Webber for the Red Bull edged third, equaling his career best.

Alonso remarked:

It was exciting to drive and I hope to watch. The rain at the end helped us a lot, I think we were better in wet conditions. Luckily, I had six laps to try to pass him. I enjoyed the race and the different conditions. I like the rain. All in all a good weekend for me, I gained valuable points.

Of date, the Formula One championship has indeed become a much tighter contest with Hungarian GP on the way, scheduled for August 5.
