Geetha and Manjeet Kaur, Manjeet Kaur already with a silver medal dangling around her neck in 400m, bravely escorted the troop towards final post, particularly in the last round when Indians made a significant lead over Kazakh’s counterparts.

• Accompanying sole Gold in athletics men relay racer also finished a satisfactory with able to secure a Silver in Men’s 4 x 400m relay; compiling the quartet with Aboo Backer Thanikkal, Joseph Abraham, Bhupinder Singh and K.M. Binu.

• The other two Bronze donated to Indian were by Sinimole Paulose and Rajesh Choudhary in women’s 1,500m and Sailing Laser Radial Open event.

• Tennis mix as well as Men’s doubles is doing well with entering the finbal lap. In Men’s double Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi routed Cecil Mamiit and Frederick Taino of Philippines by 6-2, 6-4 while in Mix doubles Leander Paes and Sania Mirza beat Xinyuan Yu and Tiantian Sun of China by 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. But unfortunately reaching to the last stage 66th-ranked Saina lost to China’s Jie Zheng.
