The 139th Saratoga meet was kicked off on Wednesday. Although, things didn’t look good at first, it got better eventually. There was a jockey falling off during the first race. But, everything seemed to go well after that.

During a normal day at Saratoga Springs in NYC you would immerse yourself in the spa and enjoy the somewhat calm region of NYC. However, once the racing season starts you have to be on the course, otherwise you will be missing out the action.

This is an extremely challenging event. There are about several races per day and throughout the week. This season the meet started off well with a brilliant sunshine and temperature in the low 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This can be called the NASCAR of horse racing.

Here’s the scores and stats:

Massoud was up front and the fans were betting on him mostly. But,eventually John Velazquez took over Massoud stealing the show.Raul Rojas was riding Lieutenant Danz and was sort of forced towards the rail.

Velazquez was little injured during the opening. However, things were taken care of. Although, unfortunately track officials agreed that there was a lack of communication since there were not enough radios. NYRA’s manager of race ops Bruce Johnson said:

That is more than unacceptable

If this goes on, the racing capital will get a bad name. Although, some would still prefer Saratoga. As Todd Pletcher says:

Saratoga works well for us because of the quality of racing and all the 2-year-old races

Todd Pletcher is like an unsung hero of the race and is still an undisputed winner of Saratoga tracks. He is the living legend of Saratoga. Pletcher has been busy training The Green Monkey.

Altogether, fans had a blast in the race. I think people come to Saratoga to watch the drama unfold. As a fan aptly called the arena a three ring circus. However, I think they need to increase the level safety in this particular racing event.
